Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Developed over 30 years ago in the University of Southern California in Santa Cruz, NLP is now best recognised for it’s speed of change, especially with difficult areas such as phobias, anxiety, habits and sexual problems. Based on ‘modelling’ (replicating effective thought processes) at the finest level, it can literally transform

According to Dr Richard Bandler, NLP is “an attitude of insatiable curiosity about human beings, coupled with a methodology that leaves behind it a trail of techniques”. It isn’t so much a ‘thing’ as ‘a way of doing things’. We do not have rigid structures or foundation-level rules, but a set of presuppositions, such as ‘people work perfectly’ and ‘all behaviour has a positive underlying intention’. We do not claim these to be true, but we find that we get really high quality results when we act as though they are true…..

Dr John Grinder defines NLP as “the study of the structure of human experience – excellence and how to replicate it”. Using these joint approaches, the founders of Neuro-Linguistic Programming modelled some outstanding achievers in the fields of hypnosis, family therapy, psychotherapy, business and sports. These strategies and processes are available to NLP practitioners, who pass them on to their clients in a compelling and enjoyable way.
